Convert currencies on your phone, even offline

A quick currency check while you're traveling

You're looking at a restaurant menu abroad, comparing a hotel price, or working out what a taxi ride costs in your home currency. You don't always have a reliable internet connection when you need a quick answer.

Our mobile app now has a currency converter that works with saved exchange rates. Enter an amount, choose the currencies, and see the converted amount without creating an expense.

Enter an amount and see the result

Choose the currency of the price you're checking, then select the currency you want to convert it to. The result appears below To, along with the exchange rate used.

For example, enter a dinner price in euros and select US dollars to get an idea of what it costs back home. Change the amount to compare another option, or tap Swap currencies to check the conversion in the other direction.

It's a handy way to make sense of local prices before adding them to your trip's expenses.

Keep using it without a connection

Open the converter while you're online to load exchange rates. Once those rates are saved, you can keep using them offline, whether you're on a flight, between Wi-Fi connections, or somewhere with limited signal.

The converter shows when the rates were last updated, so you know what your result is based on. Tap Refresh while connected to get updated rates. If an update can't complete, you can still use the saved rates that are available.

Load the rates before you head out, and you'll have a useful reference in your pocket.

How to use the converter

  1. Open Settings in the mobile app.
  2. Under Payments, choose Currency converter.
  3. Enter an amount and choose its currency.
  4. Select the currency under To and check the result.

Checking a price leaves your saved expenses as they are. When you're ready to settle a whole trip in one currency, you can also convert your group's expenses.

Get the mobile app and try the converter before your next trip.
