Add expenses faster with shortcuts and a built-in calculator
Make everyday expenses quicker to add
You've picked up groceries for the apartment or paid for lunch with a friend. Recording that cost should be quick, even if you need to add a few amounts together first.
We've added Home shortcuts and a built-in calculator to the mobile expense flow. Start with the right friend or group, work out the amount, and finish your expense in the app.
Start an expense straight from Home
Home now includes a shortlist of friends and active groups, with an Add expense button beside each one. You'll find these shortcuts below your balances.
Tap a friend's button to start an expense with them selected, or a group's button to start in that group. You can also tap the row to open the friend or group itself.
Need someone who isn't in the shortlist? See all friends and See all groups take you to the full lists. Even when you're all settled up, Home gives you a quick way to add the next shared purchase.
Work out the amount as you enter it
Tap an amount field and choose Calculator from the keyboard toolbar. You can do the calculation there, then tap Use result to put the answer into the amount field.
For example, add $18 of groceries, $12 of cleaning supplies, and $6 of other household items. The result is $36, ready to use as the expense amount.
You can review the amount back in the form before saving. There's no need to switch to another calculator app or copy the answer across.
Keep the useful details with the purchase
The expense form also keeps Add note and Add attachment handy. Include what the purchase was for, or attach a photo to help everyone understand the cost later.
The shortcuts get you started faster; you still choose who paid, who shares the expense, and how to split it.
How to try it
- On Home, tap Add expense beside a friend or group.
- Enter the description and amount.
- If you need to do some math, tap Calculator on the keyboard and choose Use result when you're done.
- Review the payer, participants, and split, then save.
